Life Skills

Mopping floorsBollinger Enterprises’ Life Skills Program addresses the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities who want to strengthen their independence in a community environment.  In an apartment at The Conewango Towers, 108 Oak Street, Warren, PA, small groups of program participants (Team BE) learn socialization skills, citizenship, cooking, cleaning, laundering, Practicing cooking skillsbudgeting money, meal planning and preparation,  as well as develop life-time leisure activities including exercise. These skills are transferred into “everyday life” in the community by grocery shopping, banking, Grocery shoppinggoing to the post office and library, attending plays and movies, going out for dinner, picnics in the parks, and walks in the neighborhood.  

 

The program runs Monday through Friday with occasional overnight or weekend activities.  Scheduling is determined by your needs and availability in the program. If you would like to schedule a tour of the apartment or for more information about Team BE, please contact Carolyn Shaffer at 814-723-8431, Ext. 19.  If you are an individual with a disability, ask your Supports Coordinator if you are eligible to receive funding from the Forest-Warren Counties Department of Human Services for the BEi Life Skills Program.
